WealthMgr Docs

Goals let you set a savings target and see how close you are. Each goal is a pocket inside an asset account, so the money is always accounted for in your actual balance.

Adding a goal

  1. Go to Goals in the sidebar.
  2. Click Add goal.
  3. Enter a goal name (e.g. "Emergency Fund", "New car").
  4. Set a target amount.
  5. Optionally set a target date — WealthMgr will calculate the recommended monthly savings.
  6. Choose an existing savings account or create a new one.
  7. Click Save.

WealthMgr creates a goal pocket in the chosen account and optionally sets an opening allocation.

The Goals page

The Goals page lists all your goal pockets across all accounts. Each card shows:

  • Goal name and which account it lives in.
  • A progress bar with percentage complete.
  • Amount saved vs. target amount.
  • Target date (if set).

Click Manage in Accounts on any goal card to open the full account view where you can edit the pocket, add transactions, or star it.

Goal progress on the Dashboard

The Dashboard shows your first goal with a recommended monthly savings amount. The calculation is:

monthly_needed = (target - saved) / months_remaining

If no target date is set, the recommended amount is not shown.

Setting the target date

Target dates are stored in your browser’s local storage (not in the database). This means they do not sync across devices. To set a target date for a goal, use the Dashboard goal card — there is a date field that saves to local storage.

Tip

Link a goal pocket to your paycheck template so each payday automatically allocates a fixed amount or percentage toward the goal. Go to Getting Started → Set up paycheck and add the goal pocket as an allocation row.

Editing and deleting goals

Goals are pockets, so you manage them from the Accounts page:

  1. Go to Accounts and open the account that contains the goal.
  2. Click the pocket menu (⋮) on the goal pocket.
  3. Choose Edit to update the name, target, or allow-surpassing setting, or Delete to remove the goal.

Warning

Deleting a goal pocket removes the pocket and its allocation history. The account balance is not affected — the money remains in the account unallocated.
